It was a very pleasant first-weekend-after-classes. Winkler visited from his student teaching land of Watertown, and we did lots of games. Nomic is yet to begin. Jen and I haven't finished writing up the new rules... and then there will be the challenge of scheduling!

This semester is going to fly! I've got some good classes, and some neat stuff to do here and there, including radio, voice lesson, and electronic composition. I'm not expecting to become part of any meaningful and sexy relationships, and right now that's not even a goal. If I meet somebody awesome, chances are good that I'll ask her out, but really, with one semester left, what's the point?

Eric, Joel, Scott, and I did some sparring in Scott's apartment tonight! It was fun and somewhat painful! I'm currently icing my shin. It was an unusual event. If we do it again, I'd prefer to have better body protection!

I'm excited about Advanced Electronic Composition! I'm thinking about trying to find a female vocalist who'd be interested in a collaboration. I enjoy doing text settings, and I'd like to do something more lyrical and interesting. I just need to find a lyrical and interesting lady to work with!

This will be my last semester of Coloring Time with Andrew. I got a slot Thursday at 10:00, and hopefully I'll get more listeners than I did on Friday nights last semester. I plan to do some Nodal Nim songs on the radio as part of the deal. It'll be neat! I gotta get to work on some posters!

I hope good things are happening to good people in the universe. It's good when that happens. I send my love to all.

Yes, well I'm back in Potsdam! My schedule looks pretty fun this semester. Busy Mondays and Wednesdays, but everything else is pretty chill. I've seen just about all the people I know by now, and I'm realizing that I know hardly anybody! Well, at least I met a few people today. That's a good start.

So this is my last semester. Doesn't feel like it yet. I'm sure it will fly.

  Dream:

I'm going with Becky to visit Troy High School. I want to get a visitor pass, so I can be there legitimately, but Becky wants to just go in. I go to the office. There's nobody there, but there's a sign that says something about visitors with a sheet of stickers underneath. I take a sticker from the sheet.

A guy working there comes by and I explain that I want a visitor pass so I can visit my old teachers. I draw a huge outline on the wall for my pass and draw pictures of a bunch of people. The pictures are horrific -- everybody is a monster. I put some vital stats onto it, then it gets cut from the wall and folded up. Somebody else comes in during this process and comments on the terrible pictures. I explain they're supposed to be terrible.

I find Becky and ask if she's visited the music department yet, and she says that she has. I'm a little mad, because I thought we were going to visit the music department together.

As I'm going about Troy High, I notice that I have an awful and embarassing lisp from my braces. Now I am outside. I take them out, piece by piece, and scatter the pieces all over. I then realize that I need my braces, so I enlist people to help me find all the pieces, but I can't find them. What I can find, I put back in my mouth, and it's really uncomfortable. I'm still missing the most important part, though.

As I'm retracing my steps, I see Michael Stipe, driving a little tractor on the lawn. He thinks he's helping, but I realize he might destroy my braces. I yell something at him like, "A lot of help that is, Michael!"

The emotions I was feeling in this dream were generally anger, frustration, and grumpiness. It was nice to wake up and realize that I haven't had braces in years.

I dreamed I was hanging out with Joel Franklin and Rachel Rausch at my house. We were all trying to go somewhere, but for some reason, we couldn't. Rachel implied that she knew a supernatural way to travel. I'm inside doing my own thing when the doorbell rings. There's nobody there when I go to check, but there's a little notebook in the mailbox that appears to contain a note from Rachel. At this point, I'm suspecting that Rachel has shifted dimensions, and in the notebook might be instructions for how I can help her get back. As I'm reaching into the mailbox, I get a phone call in real life and wake up.

I had another dream about being back student teaching and everything going wrong. There must be some fears here I'm not confronting. In this dream, I'm trying to teach a song to a class in Syracuse and a girl refuses to sing. I get upset and frustrated, and my sponser teacher asks me to address the problem by talking to the girl. So I ask the girl what's wrong, and she says that she just wanted to do it slower, because it's hard, and the class isn't ready to sing it on its own. But I was just going, and she felt like I wasn't listening to her, and she was frustrated. So I apologized and told her I hadn't heard her at first, and I didn't realize the class needed to do the song again slower. I gave a genuine apology. Then, with a few minutes left in class, my sponser teacher insisted I keep working on the song, so I tried to do it slowly and with the class echoing. I kept singing the song wrong, playing the chords wrong, and generally messing it up. Dave Shaver was in the class, and he was trying to help me by singing part of it to me, which was embarassing, of course. A parent of a student was asking if class was over yet, and I tried to explain that it wasn't.

Finally, when everything was really bad, I turned to my sponser teacher, Fran, and said, "Why do I have these dreams?! This sucks!"

And she said, "Because you're afraid of this."

Well, ask a silly question...

I may have dreamed about an owl last night. I can't be certain.

I finally got a cold. Oh well. At least I can rest all day!

Yesterday, Dave and I spent the day hanging out: playing games, and jamming. Then, we made a delicious veggie stir fry for my mom and Leanne. We made way too much rice, so I get to have rice with all my meals for a while!

My new Go board came in the mail yesterday. I'm waiting on a bunch of other packages, including especially a set of mandolin strings. There's an open-mic downtown tonight that I'm planning to attend, even if I can't play my mandolin. It's possible that I wouldn't be able to sing, anyway.

If you'd like a game of Go with a germy Andrew, come by my place today!
This is where I may or may not post something of a personal nature on a daily or non-daily basis.
