aah something or another
25 November 2004
I had an adventure. When it comes to cars, I have the touch of shit, it seems. My Buick blew a head gasket today, and I was stranded in Warrensburg. My mom picked me up and brought me to Troy, after I had finally tried the pizza at a place I've passed a million times called "Heck of a Pizza". It was alright. Currently, my car is parked somewhere safe in Warrensburg, and Friday, hopefully, somebody can tow it somewhere and get a look at it. The repair job might be too expensive to be worthwhile, so I may be again without a car.

Not much else going on tonight. Played Killer Bunnies with my mom. Helped clean the house. Tomorrow (technically later today) is that Thanksgiving thing, and my uncle is coming over. Yup.

I hope to see some awesome people during my break. If you are an awesome person in the area, gimmie a call, and we can do something.

Love cakes,
Andrew

It's been another week. Some things are nice. I'm looking forward to going home for Thanksgiving break, seeing my brother and mother. Sick of classes, but not really sick of Potsdam yet. Enjoying my Nintendo and the presense of many people. Still looking for something more, though, and I'm not getting it yet.

It was a Saturday. Nothing extremely special happened. I woke up late, had a nice walk in the brisk November Potsdam air, did some homework and matrix poetry, talked online, reviewed a CD, and then later on went to the Cantina (Potsdam's only Mexican restaurant) with Chris and Dan. After that, we played Settlers of Catan at my place. Chris liked it. Dan hated it. Then we hung around and talked for a while before I took the boys home for the night. I just finished changing the strings on the mandolin I am borrowing from Marina, and it suddenly sounds absolutely beautiful. Feels nice to play, too. I'm looking forward to some music-making tomorrow afternoon.

This week has been mixed. I missed some classes. I let my sleep schedule get all messed up. It's still messed up. It's nearly 2am and I'm not very tired. On the other hand, I had a good musical collaboration with my friend Joel, and we performed Thursday. I also had some nice dinners: Wednesday I made a stir-fry for Joel and Winkler, and last night, Eric and Steph and I made a stir-fry and played a game called Illuminati. I have yet to get anyone to play Nomic, but I haven't tried to arrange anything. Eric and I have not played Go in a while, but we've got a game scheduled for Monday night.

Ok, this probably isn't interesting to anyone other than me. To make up for the fact that you just had to read that, reward yourself by writing and/or reading some matrix poetry

So I've been doing a lot of music, and have been thoroughly documenting it at the new music blog. Suffice it to say here that my new friend Joel and I did some stuff at Hurley's this evening (when it was evening, and not early morning).

The primary purpose of this particular post is to alert the viewers that there is a new and lively matrix poetry forum, and all are welcome to stop by. Post your own poems at "WRITINGS and READINGS", or comment on the action at "Discussion". Or, simply watch the matrices unfold!

Readers of the Something Or Another, you may rejoice knowing that I will keep my ramblings about xenharmonics on this blog down to a minimum from now on. I created a new blog for the purposes of telling about my music. The Something Or Another will be personal stuff, but not music. I will mention music things in passing, but I will not be detailed about it. This blog is for letting friends know what's up in my life. The aah music blog is for promoting my music.

So I've been working hard on the Nodal Nim site, as you can see. Sometime, I'd like to redo my main site. It is 2:11 now, though, and I have a 9:00 class tomorrow. I'm going to get some toast or something and go to bed.

There are many things that you can do.
I would like to do them all with you.

=

Needless to say, it's pretty depressing that we have Bush for another four terrible years. Everyone I know is pretty pissed. Now all we have to look forward to is the pending apocalypse. I think he can arrange it within four years.

Yeah, enough about that.

I asked out an cool woman last night. She has a boyfriend, so that's a no-go.

Mm, enough about that, eh?

The excitations of the evening were Nodal Nim playing, singing, reviewing, improvising, and writing. I spent several straight hours doing the Nim thing. New songs of today include Telephone Box, Rodeo Clock, and Supersane. This is the kind of productivity that characterized Old School Nim, when I would write four songs per week every week. As of now, I don't hate the new songs, and I'll probably play them all on Friday. Planning to play tomorrow at Hurley's also.

That was the thing to do this evening. Hopefully, next and last on the agenda will be Early To Bed.

I'm just finishing up a sandwich before heading over to do my first "World Music" radio show. In a couple of hours, I'm going to do my part to vote George Bush into extinction. Later on, I'm going to a professor's house for dinner with a visiting tabla player from India who came to my dance class today. I also need to write a report and practice some Nodal Nim today. The latter will be in preparation for an unexpected gig I'm going to do Friday at the Fields, a coffeehouse in town.

It's giving me the excitations.

Love bowls,
Andrew
This is where I may or may not post something of a personal nature on a daily or non-daily basis.
